State Secretary for Transport, Public Works and Water Management
Johanna Catharina (Tineke) Huizinga-Heringa was born in Dantumadeel on 16 February 1960.
After completing her secondary education she spent several years studying law at the University of Utrecht.
From 1998 to 2002, she was leader of the Christian Union (CU) on Heerenveen municipal council. From 2002 she was a member of the House of Representatives of the States General for the CU.
Ms Huizinga-Heringa has been chair of the board of the Bornego College in Heerenveen, member of the advisory board of the International Christian Study Centre and member of the supervisory board of United Smile.
On 22 February 2007 Ms Huizinga-Heringa was appointed State Secretary for Transport, Public Works and Water Management in the fourth Balkenende government.
