The Ministry of Finance and the Dutch central bank DNB are acting to protect the financial industry - according to an announcement by finance minister Wouter Bos and DNB chair Nout Wellink.
If necessary, the Dutch state will provide capital to financial concerns that are fundamentally healthy and viable, for which some 20 billion euros are available.
A Dutch delegation is currently travelling to Iceland, where they will meet the Icelandic authorities to discuss how Dutch savers can be compensated for their assets in Icesave.
