Queen accepts resignation of Labour ministers

The Queen has accepted the resignation of the Labour (PvdA) ministers and state secretaries and has asked the caretaker government to work towards the early dissolution of the House of Representatives of the States General so that a general election can be held on 9 June 2010.
The Queen's Office has issued the following statement.
Following the consultations held yesterday and today, Her Majesty the Queen accepted the resignation of the following Ministers and State Secretaries on 23 February 2010:
- Mr Wouter Bos, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance;
- Dr Guusje ter Horst, Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations;
- Dr Ronald Plasterk, Minister of Education, Culture and Science;
- Dr Jacqueline Cramer, Minister of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment;
- Mr Eberhard van der Laan, Minister for Housing, Communities and Integration;
- Mr Bert Koenders, Minister for Development Cooperation;
- Mr Frans Timmermans, Minister for European Affairs;
- Ms Nebahat Albayrak, State Secretary for Justice;
- Ms Sharon Dijksma, State Secretary for Education, Culture and Science;
- Mr Frank Heemskerk, Minister for Foreign Trade;
- Ms Jetta Klijnsma, State Secretary for Social Affairs and Employment;
- Dr Jet Bussemaker, State Secretary for Health, Welfare and Sport.
The Queen is reflecting on the portfolios and offices which the Prime Minister and other ministers and state secretaries have put at her disposal.
She has asked the caretaker government to work towards the early dissolution of the House of Representatives of the States General so that a general election can be held on 9 June 2010. She has requested the ministers and state secretaries to continue doing all they consider necessary to serve the interests of the Kingdom.
The Prime Minister will consult with the House of Representatives and the Senate on possible support for measures that must be dealt with without delay.
