Central government
‘Central government. For the Netherlands’: this is the motto of central government, which consists of the ministries and some 200 implementing organisations, including the Tax and Customs Administration and Rijkswaterstaat.
The government wants a better and smaller civil service with fewer tasks. It intends to transfer more tasks from central government to provinces and municipalities. This objective is specified in the coalition agreement.
