Transparancy: Reports on the Netherlands Arms Export Policy
The Dutch government is transparent and open about the export from, and the transit of strategic goods through the Netherlands.
Annual reports
You can find the English translations of the Dutch arms export policy Annual Reports, from 1997 to the most recent year available in the section "Publications" on this page. The Reports contain information on the development of the Arms Export Policy, as well as data on the licenses issued and the license applications denied. The Annual Reports summarise the principles and procedures of the Netherlands arms export policy for the relevant year, describe developments relating to transparency, outline the Dutch defence-related industry, describe developments within the EU relevant to the arms export policy and efforts in the field of arms control with specific reference to the issue of small arms and light weapons. The Reports include appendices with tables and statistics on several aspects of the Netherlands Arms Export Policy.
Monthly Reports
In addition to the Annual Reports in Dutch of which a translated version is available on the English section of this website, the Dutch language section also gives access to monthly reports with information on all licenses granted for the export of strategic goods. The data provide information on the type of licenses granted, the kind of goods involved and the final destination of the goods. Besides monthly reports on the export licenses issued for military goods, the Dutch section of this website also offers monthly reports on the notifications provided on the transit of military goods through the Netherlands. A third type of monthly report that is available on the Dutch language section provides individual data on all licenses issued for the export of dual use items. The latter reports not only identify the country of final destination and the type of goods involved for each license granted, but also include a short description of the particular end use of the dual use goods concerned The monthly reports are only available in Dutch, but since most of the data and even most of the descriptions can be readily recognised by those not familiar with that language, it might be interesting to have a look at them anyway.
