Cleaners arrested at Schiphol Airport for drug smuggling
Detectives of the Royal Netherlands Military Constabulary, Customs and the Fiscal Intelligence and Investigation Service (FIOD) arrested four suspect this month, three of whom are employed as plane cleaners at Schiphol Airport. They are suspected of having imported cocaine.
The Cargo Harc Team, a cooperation of the Royal Netherlands Military Constabulary, Customs and the FIOD, started an inquiry into the suspects last year. The team of detectives had received information about cleaners at Schiphol Airport who were allegedly involved in drug shipments.
Four suspects in total have been arrested. They are inhabitants of Amsterdam between the ages of 25 and 31. The plane cleaners were allegedly involved in unloading shipments of illegal drugs. Almost 60 kilos of cocaine in all have been intercepted by the detectives.
All suspects are held on remand. The investigation is carried out under the responsibility of the Public Prosecution Service of Haarlem, location Schiphol Airport.
