The Cabinet increases statutory interest for non-commercial transactions

Upon the recommendation of Minister Opstelten of Security and Justice and Minister De Jager of Finance, the Council of Ministers has agreed to an increase of the statutory interest for non-commercial transactions from 3 to 4 percent. The decision will enter into effect on 1 July 2011.

Statutory interest is the interest due as compensation for loss due to delays with respect to an obligation to pay money debts. The last amendment took place on 1 January 2010.
