Work: employment, rights and duties

All employees working in paid jobs in the Netherlands have the same rights and duties. The government wants to make sure that both employers and employees adhere to the legal framework regulating working conditions in the Netherlands.

Those working conditions include proper employment contracts, guaranteeing rights on working hours, leaves, holidays and pensions. The government also controls the strict procedures employeers must follow when dismissing employees.
