'In the thoughts of everyone in the Netherlands’
The Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, has spoken to Her Majesty Queen Beatrix about her son Prince Friso’s skiing accident. 'I told her that they were in the thoughts of everyone in the Netherlands,' he said.
On Friday 17 February, Prince Friso was caught in an avalanche while out skiing in the mountains near Lech, Austria. He was taken to hospital in Innsbruck, where he was admitted to intensive care.
In a statement, the attending physicians said that the Prince’s condition was 'stable', but that he was 'not out of danger'. They said that it would take several days before they could make a full prognosis. Queen Beatrix and her daughter-in-law Princess Mabel are with Prince Friso in the hospital.
The Prime Minister said that he had every confidence in the excellent medical care the Prince is receiving in the Austrian hospital. 'All we know is that he is being cared for by the very best specialists.'
