The Netherlands is becoming an international stage for the fashion industry. At Amsterdam's Green Fashion Awards promoting sustainability in fashion, both Dutch designers and designers from abroad were among the nominees.

Creative industry

The fashion world is part of the creative industry, which has been designated as one of nine top sectors of the Dutch economy. The Government has earmarked more than 2 billion euros for investments in these top sectors. The creative industry in the Netherlands has a yearly turnover of 7 million euros and employs over 172,000 people.
