NATO Summit 2025.
Voiceover:
Preparations for next year's NATO summit in the Netherlands are in full swing.
Hanke Bruins Slot - Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs:
It is an honour for the Netherlands to organise the NATO summit in 2025.
Voiceover:
In late May, minister of Foreign Affairs Hanke Bruins Slot and the mayor of The Hague, Jan van Zanen, announced that the NATO summit would be held from 24 to 26 June 2025 in the World Forum in The Hague. During the previous summit in Vilnius, the Netherlands was asked to organise the NATO summit next year. In the summer of 2023, a project team started preparing meticulously for this important meeting which will be attended by 45 heads of state and government leaders and 45 ministers of Defence. A total of 8,500 people will come to the Netherlands. A lot of work has to be done for this, but the first steps have been taken. It is very important to involve the residents of The Hague. A meeting is held to inform them about the impact of the summit on the city and answer their questions.
Jan van Zanen – Mayor of The Hague:
It is a great honour, but also a great responsibility.
Person 1 – resident of The Hague:
It will have a lot of impact on the neighbourhood on the Statenkwartier, on Zorgvliet, because the Cornelis de Wittlaan will close down. But I have great confidence in a good outcome.
Person 2 – resident of The Hague:
It's nice to be involved at an early stage as residents. As mayor Van Zanen said, it's something we do together. It's sort of our summit too, so to speak.
