HARC Team intercept 82 kilos of cocaine
On Tuesday, 7 September 2010, the Rotterdam HARC Team - a cooperation of the Fiscal Intelligence and Investigation Services (FIOD), Customs, the Seaport Police and the Public Prosecution Service - intercepted a shipment of approximately 82 kilos of cocaine in a container in the Port of Rotterdam.
The container with gearboxes came from Colombia and had arrived at the Port of Rotterdam with a sea-going vessel. The shipment of cocaine was hidden in an ingenious way in the gears and axes of the gearboxes. For the time being, no suspects have been arrested. The Rotterdam HARC Team is further investigating the case.
The cocaine has a value of more than 3 million euros. Meanwhile, the drugs and the gearboxes have been destroyed.
