Dutch relief supplies arrive in Japan

A flight carrying 70 tonnes of relief supplies from the Netherlands, Denmark and Lithuania arrived in Japan on Thursday. The supplies include blankets, mattresses and sleeping bags. The Netherlands has provided 2,000 mattresses. The supplies will be distributed in the affected areas by a EU coordination team in consultation with the Japanese authorities.

Japan has asked the EU to coordinate assistance in the affected areas. The Netherlands has already donated one million euros to the Japanese Red Cross.
