'WE keep on growing' project targets women entrepreneurs
'Women entrepreneurs must close the gap with their male counterparts,' said Minister Verhagen of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation. In a video message recorded for the European SME Week Summit, entitled "Women’s Entrepreneurship Makes Business Sense", Minister Verhagen and Her Royal Highness Princess Máxima of the Netherlands spoke to 600 women entrepreneurs from 17 countries who had come together to address this important topic.
A network of women entrepreneurs
"WE keep on growing" – where WE stands for Women Entrepreneurs – was started in the Netherlands in January 2012 to support women entrepreneurs. The project provides entrepreneurs with a reliable network of other entrepreneurs and has assembled a group of successful businesspeople who mentor women entrepreneurs for a period of two years.
In the Netherlands, 16 successful entrepreneurs (15 women and one man) serve as mentors for a total of 30 women entrepreneurs. The mentors provide guidance and support, offering their feedback to increase the entrepreneurs’ chances of growth and success. This in turn helps create jobs and boost innovation
"WE keep on growing" is the Dutch project under the EU Programme of Mentoring Schemes for Women Entrepreneurs. The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation.
