Timmermans offers condolences after Brazilian fire

Following the Brazilian nightclub fire, Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs Frans Timmermans has offered Brazil’s foreign minister Antonio Patriota and the victims’ loved ones his deepest condolences. The ministers spoke in the margins of the EU-Latin America summit in Chile.

During the summit Mr Timmermans also met with Venezuela’s foreign minister Elías Jaua. ‘The relationship with Venezuela, as a neighbour of the Kingdom, is extremely important. There are opportunities to expand our cooperation in a variety of areas, such as energy, agriculture and combating drugs,’ said Mr Timmermans.

The Minister also spoke to President José Mujica of Uruguay, President Ricardo Martinelli of Panama, and members of the governments of various other countries, including Peru, Nicaragua, Honduras, France, Romania, Turkey, Spain and Luxembourg.
