Curaçao’s prime minister and Dutch defence minister to visit St Maarten
Prime Minister of Curaçao Eugene Rhuggenaath and Dutch defence minister Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert will visit St Maarten in early October.
Their visit is expected to coincide with the arrival in the Caribbean of the Joint Support Ship HNLMS Karel Doorman, which will help provide emergency assistance. The ship is being deployed primarily to transport material and aid supplies. Besides welcoming the ship, the ministers will also visit the military units that have been working in the region over the past weeks to provide initial relief.
As previously announced, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte will visit the three hurricane-affected islands of St Maarten, St Eustatius and Saba in early November to discuss their reconstruction.
