Reimer Veldhuis appointed new State Advocate
Effective 1 September 2018 and on the recommendation of Minister Grapperhaus (Justice and Security), R.W. (Reimer) Veldhuis, LLM, (40) will be appointed State Advocate of the Netherlands. He will succeed G.J.H. (Bert-Jan) Houtzagers, LLM, (59), who has held the position of State Advocate since 1999.
Mr Veldhuis is a partner at Pels Rijcken & Droogleever Fortuijn and has over 14 years’ experience in government advocacy. He advises public law supervisory bodies and municipal and provincial authorities as well, representing these in legal proceedings. Mr Veldhuis possesses broad expertise in civil, administrative and criminal law. The Royal Decree concerning his appointment was published today in the Government Gazette.
