Government Dialogue on Natural Capital: Snapshot of government engagement

This report contains a snapshot of experiences of governments worldwide to promote natural capital accounting and assessments by business, finance institutes and governments .

The report examines the extent to which the 30 countries studied currently fulfil criteria associated with an “enabling environment” for natural capital, i.e. the context (i.e. policy, institutional, regulatory, infrastructure, and cultural) needed to support the transition to a society in which natural capital accounting/assessments are an integral part of public and private sector decision making.

The report is developed by the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), to prepare the Government Dialogue on Natural Capital that the governments of Scotland and the Netherlands hosted at the 3rd World Forum on Natural Capital (Edinburgh, 27 November 2017).
