Bleker: Export growth encouraging sign for Dutch economy
Exports have shown stronger growth in the past 3 months compared to last year (2%, 3% and 6% respectively) according to figures from Statistics Netherlands.
Seeking out growth markets
'This increase is an encouraging sign for the Dutch economy and for employment. Exports represent a third of our income. The increase in exports to non-EU countries in particular demonstrates that companies are seeking out growth markets,' says Minister for Agriculture and Foreign Trade, Henk Bleker.
Growth not a given
Bleker: 'We are still working hard to maintain our position in neighbouring EU markets. Growth is not a given and prospects are not rosy. The government continues to be committed to reducing obstacles and optimising opportunities for growth in the top sectors where we are successful internationally.'
