Accessibility with regard to the 2025 NATO Summit

The 2025 NATO Summit will be held on 24 and 25 June at the World Forum in The Hague. It requires many security measures, which will affect road traffic, public transport and air travel.

Roads and motorways

Anyone travelling by car between Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam from Sunday 22 June to Thursday 26 June should expect severe disruptions. The temporary and partial closures of roads, motorways (including slip roads), flyovers and tunnels on the A4, A5, A44 and N44 are likely to cause a lot of slow-downs. The same applies to regional and local roads in and around The Hague, Wassenaar, Katwijk, Noordwijk, Haarlemmermeer, Leiden and Rotterdam. For the most up-to-date information on road closures, detours and motorway delays, see Rijkswaterstaat.nl/navo-top (page in Dutch).

Emergency services (police cars, ambulances and fire trucks) will be able to pass freely on the secondary road network in emergency situations.

Public transport

During the summit trains will follow their normal schedules, but may be more crowded than usual. Trams and buses in The Hague will also follow their normal schedules, with the exception of lines that usually pass through the area around the World Forum, which will be closed off. HTM provides up-to-date information about the schedules of trams and buses in The Hague. At this time it is still not entirely clear exactly how the summit will affect local public transport operators. It is expected that trams and buses will also be more crowded than usual, and some lines may not run.

Air travel

If you will be travelling to or from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport during the week of the summit, keep in mind that the airport may be busy and the roads around the airport may be congested. Schiphol airport offers up-to-date information about incoming and outgoing international flights.
