Prime Minister Rutte to speak at Dam Square

Prime Minister Mark Rutte will speak at Dam Square in Amsterdam this evening following yesterday’s attack in Paris.

Many Dutch towns and cities are holding silent processions or demonstrations at 18.00 this evening, in support of the victims of the attack on the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, and their families.

The demonstration in Amsterdam will start at the French consulate and end at Dam Square, where the prime minister will speak, as will media and police representatives. The gathering will conclude with a speech by the mayor of Amsterdam, Eberhard van der Laan.
