Constructive talks with umbrella organisations for medical specialists and hospitals

On Sunday 15 March 2020, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) had constructive talks with the Federation of Medical Specialists (FMS), the Netherlands Federation of University Medical Centres (NFU) and the Dutch Hospitals Association (NVZ).

The parties underscored the essential importance of basing the country’s approach to the coronavirus crisis on the recommendations of experts, under the leadership of the RIVM Outbreak Management Team ((OMT)-RIVM).

They also agreed on the importance of strengthening the existing crisis management structure by communicating clearly and unambiguously. To this end, the health ministry is setting up a consultation structure with the care professionals’ umbrella organisations to keep them up-to-date on the approach to the coronavirus crisis and to enable them to ask questions and voice their concerns.
