63 patients deceased, 811 new patients, a total of 5560 confirmed cases

Since yesterday, 811 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the Netherlands to 5560. Among them are 1495 people who are or were admitted to hospital.

Since the last update, 63 patients have died from COVID-19. The number of COVID-19 fatalities in the Netherlands is now 276. The deceased range in age between 55 and 97 years old.

Most of the confirmed cases live in the province of Noord- Brabant: 1739 people. This is followed by Zuid-Holland (758) and Noord-Holland (740).

The actual number of COVID-19 infections is higher than the number of reports in this update. This is because not everyone suspected of a COVID-19 infection is tested. The cases reported here are mainly patients who are so sick that they are admitted to hospital, and healthcare providers.

The number of reported patients and deceased patients may vary per day for various reasons. For example, the deaths are not always reported on the same day. The fact that the numbers fluctuate does not say anything about the effect of the measures that have been in place since mid-March. This effect is not expected to be visible until the end of this week or the beginning of next week.
