Initiative to restrict the online sale of anti-Semitic literature and products

Unfortunately, anti-Semitic literature is still on sale. As people increasingly shop through web shops and online platforms, a new approach is needed to restrict the online sale of anti-Semitic content.

The National Coordinator against Anti-Semitism (NCAB) has therefore launched an initiative to find a better and more efficient way to induce web shops and online platforms to bar anti-Semitic content from their product range. Bol.com is the NCAB’s partner in this initiative. It recently published its own strategy and working method for restricting the online sale of discriminatory articles and anti-Semitic literature. NCAB and bol.com hope to persuade businesses that face similar challenges to exchange knowledge and experiences in order to arrive at effective joint action plans.

To this end, the NCAB will ask other web shops and online platforms trading in the Netherlands to share their own strategies and working methods and host a gathering in early 2023 for representatives of these parties to swap experiences and best practices. The ultimate aim is to find a faster and more direct way to bar anti-Semitic content from web shops and online platforms.

NCAB statement

‘Unfortunately, anti-Semitic literature is still on sale. This initiative will help us put a stop to the online sale of such malicious products. We would therefore encourage other web shops and online platforms to join it.’
