Export of child benefit and child budget to stop
The House of Representatives has approved the bill submitted by Lodewijk Asscher, Minister of Social Affairs and Employment, to stop the export of child benefit and child budget.
The government believes that schemes of this kind are intended for the financial support of children in the Netherlands. As of 1 January 2015, child benefit and child budget will no longer be exported to countries outside the European Union. This will lead to savings of €6 million a year as of 2017. A transitional period of 6 months will apply to parents receiving this kind of support.
In the Senate, the Freedom Party (PVV), Christian Democratic Alliance (CDA), People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), Calvinist Party (SGP) and Christian Union (CU) have approved the bill.
