When you adopt a child, you are responsible for its care and upbringing instead of its biological parents. The child officially becomes a member of your family. If you wish to adopt a child from the Netherlands or abroad, you must fulfil a number of conditions. For example, you cannot adopt your own grandchild and you must meet certain age requirements.
