Childcare benefit

Childcare benefit helps you pay for childcare. Receipt of this benefit depends on your income and the number of hours you and your partner work. It is paid by the Benefits Office of the Tax and Customs Administration.

Conditions for receiving childcare benefit

You can receive childcare benefit if: 

  • you and your partner work, are in education, are receiving assistance with finding a job or are taking a civic integration course;
  • your child goes to a registered childcarer.

Calculate the amount of childcare benefit

If you want to know how much childcare benefit you can receive, you can calculate the indicative amount (in Dutch) on the Tax and Customs Administration’s website. The amount will depend on your income, the number of hours you work, the number of children that receive childcare, the number of hours of childcare and the cost per hour.

How to claim childcare benefit

You can claim childcare benefit (in Dutch) on the Tax and Customs Administration’s website. You only need to claim once. You will then automatically receive the benefit every year. You must inform the Tax and Customs Administration of any changes in your circumstances.
