175 patients deceased, 722 new patients, a total of 12.595 confirmed cases

Since yesterday, 722 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the Netherlands to 12.595. Among them are 4712 people who are or were admitted to hospital.

Hospital admissions for 722 patients were reported today. 175 deaths were reported. Not all of the hospital admissions or deaths occurred within the past day.

The number of patients admitted to hospital and the number of deceased patients reported in the Netherlands are increasing less rapidly than would have been expected without measures in place.

The province of Noord-Brabant seems to have moved past the peak of new hospital admissions. Hospital admissions are still increasing in Zuid-Holland, Noord-Holland, Gelderland and Limburg. The number of hospital admissions remains stable and low in the provinces of Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe, Flevoland and Zeeland.

RIVM National Institute for Public Health and the Environment    National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) is receiving information on the outbreak of the novel coronavirus from multiple sources. The daily data reports from the National Intensive Care Evaluation (NICE) Foundation are now also included in the reports on Coronavirus data in the Netherlands (only in Dutch). These figures are updated constantly by the NICE Foundation. For that reason, the figures in this report have a slight delay compared to the real-time situation.

The reports to the Municipal Public Health Services (GGDs) are used as the basis for these figures. There is a delay because a hospital admission or death is sometimes reported to the GGDs a few days later. For that reason, the number of deceased patients reported per day may include deaths that occurred over the course of several days. The same applies to hospital admissions.

Since not all COVID-19 patients are tested, the actual numbers in the Netherlands are higher than the numbers stated here.
