134 patients deceased, 447 new patients, a total of 13.614 confirmed cases

Since March 31, 1019 people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the Netherlands to 13.614. Among them are 5159 people who are or were admitted to hospital.

Hospital admissions for 447 patients were reported today. 134 deaths were reported. These hospital admissions and deaths occurred over the course of several days, but were reported within the last 24 hours.

So far, two deaths have been reported involving people younger than 50 years old, both of whom had serious underlying health conditions.

Fewer hospital admissions and deaths were reported today. It is important to be aware that the number of reports per day is not the actual number of deaths or hospital admissions in the past day. This is because there is a delay between the moment of death or hospital admission and when these figures are reported to the Municipal Public Health Services (GGDs). It seems as though the initial effects of the measures are starting to be seen. The number of patients admitted to hospital and the number of deceased patients reported in the Netherlands are increasing less rapidly than would have been expected without measures in place.

The trends in hospital admissions by province are unchanged compared to yesterday. Noord-Brabant seems to have moved past the peak of new hospital admissions. That point is not yet visible in Zuid-Holland, Noord-Holland, Gelderland and Limburg. The number of hospital admissions remains stable and low in the provinces of Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe, Flevoland and Zeeland.

RIVM National Institute for Public Health and the Environment   is receiving information on the outbreak of the novel coronavirus from multiple sources. The daily data reports from the National Intensive Care Evaluation (NICE) Foundation are now also included in the reports on coronavirus data in the Netherlands (only in Dutch). These figures are updated constantly by the NICE Foundation. For that reason, the figures in this report have a slight delay compared to the real-time situation.
