The Custodial Institutions Agency Is Opening Its Gates on 6 November 2010

The gates will open! On Saturday 6 November, about 10,000 people will be visiting a prison, a correctional institution for juvenile offenders, or a custodial clinic during the seventh National Open Day of the Custodial Institutions Agency of the Ministry of Justice.

The purpose of the National Open Day of the Custodial Institutions Agency is to give visitors an impression of life and work within the walls of a remand centre, a penal institution, a forensic psychiatric centre, or a correctional institution for juvenile offenders. This year, 48 custodial institutions will participate in the Open Day. All participating institutions will have their own programme, with presentations and tours. The central theme will be the reduction of recidivism by breaking through criminal patterns of behaviour/helping detainees to break away from their criminal patterns of behaviour. Employees of the custodial institutions will be present to answer questions from the public.
