Knottnerus appointed chair of advisory committee on experiment in weed cultivation

Prof. J.A. (André) Knottnerus has been appointed chair of the independent advisory committee 'Experiment in closed chain for coffee shops'. Minister of Justice and Security Grapperhaus and Minister for Medical Care Bruins reported this appointment in a letter to the House of Representatives on Friday.

The advisory committee will issue recommendations on designing an experiment in a closed chain for coffee shops cultivating cannabis for recreational use. In addition, the committee will suggest which municipalities are to take part in the experiment.

Mr Knottnerus (b. 1951) currently works at Maastricht University as professor of general practice. He will inaugurate the advisory committee as from 1 March 2018. This committee will comprise experts and scientists active in either prevention and addiction care, food and food products or justice, local government and international law.
