Appointment of ambassadors

The cabinet and the Council of Ministers for the Kingdom have approved three new ambassadorial appointments proposed by foreign minister Bert Koenders. Two of the appointments, for Paramaribo and Santiago de Chile, were put to the Council of Ministers for the Kingdom while the third, for Beijing, was put to the cabinet. The appointments will not be final until they are formally approved by the host countries concerned.

The locations and ambassadors are as follows:

  • Chile, duty station Santiago de Chile: Harman Idema, currently head of the Office for International Cooperation;
  • China, duty station Beijing: Ed Kronenburg, currently ambassador in Paris;
  • Suriname, duty station Paramaribo: Anne van Leeuwen, currently consul-general in Toronto.
