Appointment of ambassadors and permanent representative

The cabinet has approved the two ambassadorial appointments and the appointment of a permanent representative to the OPCW and the ICC in The Hague proposed by foreign minister Bert Koenders. The two ambassadorial appointments will not be final until they are formally approved by the host countries concerned.

The appointments are as follows:

  • Nigeria (duty station Abuja): Robert Petri, currently ambassador in Sana’a, Yemen (temporarily stationed The Hague)
  • Czech Republic (duty station Prague): Kees Klompenhouwer, currently ambassador in Kyiv, Ukraine
  • Permanent representative to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague: Paul van den IJssel, until recently ambassador in Amman, Jordan.
