Verhagen to accompany Queen on State visit to Mexico
Foreign minister Maxime Verhagen will accompany HM Queen Beatrix and HRH Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Máxima on their State visit to Mexico, from Tuesday 3 November to Friday 6 November.
His agenda will include urban development, energy and climate change. The visit, which comes at the invitation of President Felipe Calderón, is a reflection of the excellent relations between the Netherlands and Mexico.
‘Mexico is an emerging economy that is taking on more and more international responsibility,’ said Mr Verhagen. ‘Because we share values like respect for human rights, freedom and democracy, we’re increasingly working together on the world stage.’
On 3 November Mr Verhagen will meet with his Mexican counterpart, Secretary of Foreign Affairs Patricia Espinosa, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations, combating international drugs trafficking, managing climate change and reforming international institutions.
