Applying for the healthcare allowance

If you are on a low income, you may be eligible for the healthcare allowance. The healthcare allowance is a financial contribution towards the premium payable for your Dutch healthcare insurance and the compulsory excess. The amount of the healthcare allowance depends, among other things, on your income.

Eligibility requirements for the healthcare allowance

To be eligible for the healthcare allowance, you must meet certain conditions. For example, you must be at least 18 years old and have Dutch healthcare insurance. You can find all the eligibility requirements for the healthcare allowance on the Tax and Customs Administration website.

Applying for a care benefit online

You can apply for a care benefit online, via the ‘Mijn toeslagen’ (My allowances) section. This is your personal page on the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration website. You will need your DigiD to do this.
