Concern about developments in Hungary

‘Just like other foreign ministers in Europe, I am concerned about developments in Hungary,’ foreign minister Uri Rosenthal stated.

The minister said that it was important that the European Commission is currently scrutinising changes to Hungary’s constitution that impact, for example, on the judiciary, the media and the central bank, particularly where they affect the independence of these institutions. He went on to say, ‘The new Hungarian legislation must be compatible with the European treaties.’
