Prime Minister Rutte to visit Malaysia and Australia from 5 to 7 November

Prime Minister Mark Rutte will visit Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak on Wednesday 5 November. He will then travel to Australia, where he will meet with Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

The main reason for these visits is the air disaster involving flight MH17 in Ukraine on 17 July. Since then, the Netherlands has been working closely with Australia and Malaysia to repatriate the remains and personal belongings of the victims as soon as possible, investigate the crash and bring those responsible to justice.

Mr Razak and Mr Abbott both paid visits to the Netherlands in the summer. Mr Rutte is visiting Malaysia and Australia to reaffirm the continuing cooperation and to thank both countries on the government’s behalf for the assistance the Netherlands has received. He will also discuss international political developments and bilateral relations with his counterparts.
