The Netherlands remembers MH17 victims

The victims of the MH17 air disaster were remembered during the National Remembrance Ceremony held at the RAI in Amsterdam today. Prime Minister Mark Rutte spoke on behalf of the government, and more than 1,600 next of kin, including a number of friends and family from overseas, were in attendance.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima also attended, accompanied by several other members of the Royal Family.

The programme was based on ideas, wishes and suggestions submitted by the next of kin themselves. Three relatives spoke, and one read a poem. A key moment of the ceremony was the reading out of all 298 victims’ names.
