Phased disclosure of inspection data

The Cabinet has approved a proposal by Minister of Social Affairs and Employment Lodewijk Asscher to release reliable and comprehensive information on individual company inspections conducted by the Social Affairs and Employment Inspectorate.

The emphasis will initially be on minor offences in which environmental information features, for example when businesses contravene rules on asbestos. More information concerning inspections of businesses that work with large quantities of hazardous materials and fall under the Major Accidents (Risks) Decree will also be made public by the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment. The Social Affairs and Employment Inspectorate expects to start publishing the information in the second quarter of 2014.

The government also proposes naming businesses guilty of underpayment or illegal employment. This plan will be included in the bill to counteract sham employment arrangements, which will be submitted to the House of Representatives later this year.
