Van den Berg Nominated as the Chief of Police of the Central Unit of the National Police

Minister Van der Steur of Security and Justice has nominated Ms J. A. (Jannine) van den Berg for the appointment to chief of police of the Central Unit of the National Police. The appointment will take effect shortly after the new commissioner of the National Police takes office.

The vacancy for commissioner of the Central Unit was the result of the departure of Patricia Zorko. She will become the Deputy National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism (Nationaal Coördinator Terrorismebestrijding en Veiligheid, NCTV) at the Ministry of Security and Justice.

Ms Van den Berg (1964) has been a member of the national police force management team since the National Police came into being in 2013. Prior to that, she was the commissioner of the Kennemerland police region and the director of Investigations and Information for the Haaglanden police region, among other positions. Ms Van den Berg began her career at the police force in Utrecht after graduating from the Netherlands Police Academy (Nederlandse Politie Academie).
