Prime ministers Rutte and Harper to meet at National Military Museum

On 4 May 2015 Prime Minister Mark Rutte will meet with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Mr Harper is visiting the Netherlands on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the country’s liberation.

The meeting will take place in the new National Military Museum in Soest. The two prime ministers will discuss current political and economic aspects of their countries’ bilateral relations. They will also briefly visit the exhibition 'De zomer van ’45' (The summer of ’45), which highlights Canada’s role in liberating the occupied Netherlands.

Minister of Defence Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert and Chief of Defence General Tom Middendorp will also be at the museum to meet with Canadian Minister of National Defence Jason Kenney and Commander of the Canadian Army Lieutenant General Marquis Hainse.
