Salaries of government ministers, state secretaries and executives of provinces and municipalities
The salaries and legal status of ministers and state secretaries are laid down in the Ministers and State Secretaries (Legal Status) Act.
Prime minister’s and ministers’ salaries
The prime minister’s annual salary is € 157.287 (2017), including holiday and end-of-year allowances. He is also entitled to a fixed expenses allowance and a number of other contributions and provisions. The prime minister earns the same as any other government minister.
The maximum statutory salary for senior officials in 2017 is € 181.000. This includes holiday and end-of-year allowances, pension contributions and expenses allowances.
State secretary’s salary
A state secretary’s annual salary is € 146.824 (2017), including holiday and end-of-year allowances.
