Tourism and recreation are vital to the Dutch economy. The tourism industry has an annual turnover of €68.3 billion. It also accounts for 600,000 jobs – 6.2% of the national total. The government wants to boost tourism by attracting more visitors from abroad. It also intends to scrap unnecessary regulations for tourism businesses.
