Evaluation finale du projet PAGRIS
The final evaluation of the PAGRIS project (2020 – 2025) in Burundi finds that the project is highly relevant and well aligned with both beneficiary needs and national policies. Its approaches, such as PIP, GIFS, and watershed management, have effectively improved soil fertility, reduced erosion, and increased agricultural productivity and household incomes.
While results are generally positive, challenges remain in coordination with other projects, digitalization, monitoring systems, and institutional collaboration. Demonstrated impacts include stronger farm professionalization, increased investments by households, and improved gender relations. To strengthen sustainability and impact, the evaluation recommends better collaboration among projects, clearer targeting of vulnerable groups, stronger engagement of civil society organizations, improved digital tools for monitoring and coordination, and institutionalization of watershed management through local development committees.
