How can I supplement my state pension?
If you do not receive a full state pension, you may be eligible for the supplementary income scheme for the elderly (AIO). This is a social assistance benefit. There are other ways to supplement your income if you do receive a full state pension.
Benefits to supplement an incomplete state pension
If you have not built up a full state pension, your income may be lower than the minimum wage. For example, if you built up less state pension because of time spent abroad. In such cases, you may be eligible for benefits under the supplementary income scheme for the elderly (AIO).
Applying for supplementary income
You do not need to apply for benefits under the supplementary income scheme for the elderly. The Social Insurance Bank (SVB) will contact you once you have applied for state pension.
