What is CE-marking for construction products?

CE-marking for construction products indicates that the products meet safety and performance requirements.

Manufacturers, distributors and importers of construction products must obtain CE-marking for these products. To do this, they must submit a Declaration of Performance (DoP).

Derogations from mandatory CE-marking and Declaration of Performance

Sometimes a manufacturer can obtain a ‘derogation’ (an exemption) from the CE-marking requirement. One example is construction products that are manufactured using traditional methods because they are to be used in the restoration of a monument or historic building. Article 5 of the EU Construction Products Regulation provides for derogations from drawing up a Declaration of Performance.
