Applying for a Dutch title with a foreign diploma

If you have been awarded an academic degree outside the Netherlands, then you can also use this to apply for a Dutch title. Examples of Dutch titles are ingenieur (ir.) (engineer), meester (mr.) (master) and doctor (dr.) (doctor).

Criteria for applying for a Dutch title

You can only apply for a Dutch title if your diploma is a recognised higher education qualification and the programme you completed must be of equal value to a similar Dutch programme. These conditions will be assessed by the Education Executive Agency (DUO).
