Eligibility for housing benefit

To be eligible for housing benefit, you must meet certain conditions. For example, you must be at least 18 years old and your combined income and assets must be below a certain level. The Dienst Toeslagen website sets out all the conditions for housing benefit.

Check if you are entitled to housing benefit when your situation changes

Always check carefully whether you are entitled to housing benefit. Perhaps you were not entitled to housing benefit in the past. However, the conditions for eligibility may now have changed. As a result, you may now be entitled to housing benefit.

Your personal situation may also have changed:

  • Your income has decreased;
  • The composition of your household has changed. For example, you are living with fewer housemates.

Has your personal situation changed? In that case, you may be entitled to housing benefit.
