The story of Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy

Our economy is the engine driving our prosperity, our well-being and our progress. The knowledge, entrepreneurial spirit and capacity for innovation we collectively nurture can contribute to solving the challenges associated with climate change, but will also help us to capitalise on the opportunities presented by global digitisation and other technological breakthroughs. In turn, economic opportunities for our entrepreneurs will be found lurking in the solutions we find to social challenges. After all, the world of tomorrow is being created by the entrepreneurs of today.

For this reason, the Ministry is helping entrepreneurs to do business more sustainably and is making every effort to ensure that sustainability is rendered ever more worthwhile. In this regard, we are working with both small and large parties that are shaping our future, and we are endeavouring to strike an optimum balance between everyone’s interests. This can be tricky, as striking a balance necessarily entails making decisions.

These decisions are sometimes very tough to make. The following question is always key: what does the economy of tomorrow require of us today? In this way, the Ministry is working towards making the Netherlands sustainable and entrepreneurial.
