Which educational institutions are recognised by the government or receive government funding?

All educational institutions that are recognised by the government or receive government funding are listed in the following registers:

As of 1 August 2019 the wearing of face coverings is no longer permitted in these educational institutions or on their premises. ‘Premises’ refers to any building or land that belongs to the educational institution, such as a school playground. If an educational institution is split across several sites, then the ban on face coverings applies in all of the institution’s buildings and on all its premises. For example:

  • school or university libraries;
  • teaching laboratories;
  • external buildings where teaching takes place or examinations are held;
  • school administration buildings;
  • buildings where teachers, deans, student advisers, researchers and counsellors work.
